That makes sense. That explains why it has those “ghosts” and why Pipp and Zipp can’t stand the smell.
Thinking about it, it also can be kombucha, which can have a rather funky smell and while it’s basically a fermented tea and you can drink it on its own, or it also can be used as marinade/dipping sauce ingredient.
Or maybe it’s just plain, ol’ tea or coffee and Alphie simply fancies weird food combos. :D
