Wow, I can’t believe I forgot to reveal this guy for almost an entire year!

This here is Love Bug, a cute little guy I adopted from an old friend on deviantART last December. As you can see by the quality and date of the drawing, I drew this reference for Love Bug in early January… back when I used to copy references for poses for pictures, before I began coloring my work.

Anyway, this is Love Bug! You may have heard rumors and seen some pics of him, now I’m finally revealing him to the public. He’s a sweet, kind, fun-loving changeling/unicorn pony hybrid! I have to give credit where it’s due to an amazing friend of mine who helped me with his personality and backstory and everything.

BIOGRAPHY/DESCRIPTION
This is Love Bug, the lovechild between a lowly royal maid and an ex-changeling guard to Queen Chrysalis’ kingdom! Born in secret in Canterlot, this little insect pony has always been a fan of cheering ponies up! After moving to Ponyville with his family as a teenager with the opportunity of a better life, he quickly hugged his way into ponies’ hearts, showing them that not all changelings are bad! He even discovered his special talent not long after moving to the town when he helped a lonely, depressed stallion find his soulmate! He learned that he had the ability to look inside a pony’s soul and find what they wanted in a significant other. He would then work to search and find a soul that matched the wants and needs of his client and set the two up for a date, which has not once ever failed. Not long after that, he got a job as a marriage counselor at only 17 years old. He helps couples work through their differences and come to agreements, thus saving the relationship. He also still works as a so-called ‘Cupid’ for those who need it! Love loves ponies… in more ways than one! Being half changeling and half pony, he has some strange eating habits… Being a hybrid, he has to get his nutrition both from love and from normal pony food. Love has found a way to get the best of both worlds all at one time. He discovered that ponies are the best thing to give him the nutrition he needs for both sides of his metabolism. Hating to eat unwilling prey, Love always asks a pony nicely if he can eat them, out of respect. He only eats the pony of he or she agrees to it. Love will only eat those who are willing. Whenever he eats a pony, Love gets the nutrition he needs for his changeling side from the pony’s love of being eaten. He also gets what he needs for his normal pony side from the pony his or herself. Love can choose whether or not to digest a pony, and if he chooses to digest them, the love he gains from them ends up getting stored in his horn as magic, granting the stallion with powerful magical powers for a short time, normally around 3 or 4 hours or so. Along with that, the nutrition he gains for his pony side ends up getting stored as fat on his body, which is the main reason Love is so chubby, especially around the middle!

Personality-wise, Love rivals Pinkie Pie in terms of energy and excitement. As mentioned before, he has a love for hugging anypony he meets, no matter if they’re happy or sad or angry. He loves going around Ponyville and cheering up anyone he sees who doesn’t look very happy. It makes him happy to make others happy. Love himself has constantly got a smile on his face. He tries to keep his chin up, even in times of stress. Due to his happy-go-lucky attitude and demeanor, Love is a lot more prone to get taken advantage of… which, whenever it happens, tears Love apart inside, making him feel like an idiot. Love does try to use his ability to see into a pony’s soul to see whether or not a pony is good or not, though even he admits that the ability is flawed and doesn’t work all the time, leading him to still get turned out several times. He often relies on his closest friends to cheer him up whenever he’s feeling down, and they never fail to lift his spirits.

All in all, Love is a very kind and sweet predator, and a sweet pony in general, and I hope you enjoy seeing him in more pictures from now on!
