Anyway, in that train of though, have you, nurse redheart, ever heard of Rule 34?
What’s G3.7?
I was gonna say! You accidentally a verb there.
Or, seeing as I’m pretty sure G3 was the only one where there were next to no males, yet everyone ended up with babies, That only happened to the G3’s, and the story of their downfall has only recently been uncovered.
AUGH. MUST. STOP. BEING. INSPIRED!
I meant lose their superiority, made a typo.
That’s actually a good idea. It would also explain why the ponies in gen 4 were originally xenophobic of zebras and such. Without the means to infinitely reproduce without gestation they would no longer be able to replace any pony immediately number wise and would their superiority over other species.
Goddammit, I’m doing it again!
I smell a fanfic.
Maybe the magic mirror is why they were hated: they could effectively become an explosive reproducer without the need for a gestation period, and would out-compete other species. This would drive them to conflict with other races, who could discover the secret of the ponies’ near limitless numbers, and then seek to destroy them completely.
Therefore, the G3 villains were actually good guys.
Or some random pony couldn’t resist the stupidity impulse guarding it for years upon years wondering what dark chaos would befall pony civilization couldn’t resist the urge and went and broke it.
Kind of like putting a big red button in front of someone with the words, “do not push” telling them to guard it with their life for years and years.
Unless there was somebody who, say, didn’t like ponies. Which there was no shortage of in the earlier generations, either.
That would be astonishingly dark, though.
Hence, no backup.
Or the magic mirror was one of a kind and the very notion that anyone, even non-ponies, would destroy it would considered looney.
Like, “Well our species of pony gen 1, 2 and 3 are dependent on a one of a kind extremely breakable object. What would happen if someone were to break it?”
“GASP No one would ever do such a thing! Are you sure you don’t need to go to a psych ward?”
I’m pretty sure there’s plenty of males in G1.
No, this is a G1 reference; it has nothing to do with G3.
it’s a jab at G3, and how there are no males on screen, or anywhere, really. sure, there was that one, but he couldn’t possibly provide all the foals for an entire civilization.
“oh dear, if they found out it was me who broke it for my “breeding experiment”. Who knows what would happen”
“rarity…you okay? You seem worried”
“Oh it’s nothin!”
“…Hey aren’t those your initials on that scissor bla-”
“No!”
“…Ooookay then…”
the original could duplicate objects as well as living things too.
@Background Pony
Actually, it’s just that the males of their tribe were driven off and assimilated into what would eventually become the ponies we know and love.
My guess is that they had the Unicorns create a new and improved mirror, one for each hospital.
Unless someone shows them what sex is, they would need to rely on magic.
But what if they have absolutely no genitalia at all?
That would make so much sense.
Given that the ponies in the show are so dependent on magic, and we rarely see technology in use, if the magic mirror of past generations was destroyed they wouldn’t know anything about how to continue as a species and then go extinct.
Mirror pool is imperfect as it makes exact clones rather than small foals in the image of their parents.
And when it broke, The shards were scattered. one now resides in the ‘mirror pool’ near Ponyville. In fact, any important magical artifact likely had a piece of the duplicating mirror.
