Actually, the moment Pinkie did this, it wasn’t funny at all. It was needlessly exaggerated behavior, also known as completely forced humor.
POnies don’t have any proper anatomy. They’re just vector shapes pasted together. Now, the real reason why Pinkie bent her legs like that is pure artistic creativity. This pose reads better at the cost of making less sense anatomically. Totally worth breaking a rule or two.
Stuff you see in the anatomy tag though… don’t bend this rule of anatomy for good reason but because the artist doesn’t know better.
To be fair the ponies are probably double or triple jointed, thats why they can do such crazy things with their legs.
I would watch a show about cats.

They barely look like actual ponies, they are more catlike than equine with the exception of the princesses and stallions.

MLP’ ponies seem to have extremely flexible joints on their legs - since the animators make them have human like poses when a pony pose would be ‘awkward’ for some reason.
Well, you can have big eyes and still pull off some believability, however unlikely. Once the anatomy gets as dumb as LPS, I head for the hills.
Sell me stuff.
