“Why didn’t you just tell me who you were?” Sunny Starscout demanded at the alicorn she thought was her friend. Death, or as she had recently realized, the Sun Princess from before Twilight Sparkle’s rule.
“You are Princess Celestia.”

Death…No, Celestia scowled at her at the mention of her old title.

“That title, that name should be forgotten. It would do you some good, my friend, if you followed that advice.”

“Why?”

“Some stories should be left for dead,” Celestia muttered with a faraway look before coming quickly back to reality and looking down at Sunny again. “Stop looking for answers to questions you will regret to have answered.”

The light Celestia had illuminated her realm with abruptly cut out from her horn. Plunging the realm and Sunny into complete darkness before she could awaken for the day, back in the mortal realm.
