Whereas pegasi can magically lower their mass, making it possible for them to fly, earth ponies can magically augment their mass, and with it, their physical strength. This allows them to perform such feats as pulling entire trains, catapulting pegasi across town, and making life difficult for bronies who can’t quite grasp that, no, the filly doesn’t want to be picked up./headcanon
