Rarity strikes me as belonging the older generation of working hard even if it’s unpleasent.

Sweetie on the other hoof, prefers to work if it’s fun.

I also see it as Sweetie probably growing up in more luxury, while Rarity had a more frugal childhood and had to work very hard to be noticed.

Sweetie probably just insulted Rarity’s very values

Rather than say “well, it takes a lot of time and dedication”,
try to say “let me help you get started”.
Once you have built a basis and a passion is developed, the “time and dedication” bit goes over easier.
