Steady Gaze said:
  • Discuss domesticated animals with Moonflower. She said she’s spent a lot of time studying outside flora, but her tribe must be unfamiliar with normal farm animals. […]
  • Talk to the unicorn sisters about their/our plans for the rest of the day. […]
  • If we’re doing things by proximity, let’s stop by the farrier’s workshop and help Apple Basket make a lucky horseshoe, assuming we fulfill the requirements. […]
You and your friends spend some time petting and cuddling with affectionate critters. After a while, you look over to Moonflower — who, at this point, is covered in what look like fluffy chirping lemons —, and curious, you ask her whether or not bat ponies raise any farm animals.
Moonflower: “Nuh uh! We don’t have any farms, either. But the Crimsonsand Clan’s got salamanders to help with foragin’ in the desert. I dunno if that counts!”
Dawn Break: “You’re saying that bat ponies don’t practice any form of agriculture?”
Moondancer: “What do you eat all day?”
Moonflower: “S’kinda hard to grow stuff underground! The most common foods we eat are mushrooms, lichen, moss, and roots. In Starfalls, we also got some algae growin’ in the rivers. And at night, we look for the good stuff on the surface, like fruits!”
Dawn Break: “Interesting. With everything that’s happened recently, do you think your clan will try their hooves at farming one day?”
Moonflower: “Ooh, I dunno! The plants growin’ in the fields are tasty, and these animals are super cute, but it’s gotta be a lotta hard work to take care of ’em all!”
Apple Basket: “Sure is. We have chickens back home, and between ‘em and the orchard, we’ve got our work cut out for us. And that’s on a good day!”
As you continue chatting — and petting the occasional creature that comes close to you —, the sun ascends above stray clouds, casting soft blue shadows across the rolling hills around the farm. Soon enough, your group is ready to move on to another event.
Moonflower: “That was super fun! Where do we go next?”
Since it’s on the way back to town, you suggest stopping by the Farrier’s Workshop as per Apple Basket’s request. Your party agrees.
Dawn Break: “As for us, we should go and browse the souvenir shops while it’s still early. Wouldn’t want to miss out on anything they sell there.”
Moondancer: “Don’t worry, I’ve brought more bits this time, just in case.”
You nod, and tell the unicorn sisters that you will catch up with them later, before splitting up, and making your own way to the next activity.
You join a few other ponies inside of Lucky Smith’s spacious workshop, where the mare herself greets you with her usual energy.
Lucky Smith: “Welcome! Hey, Blazy-butt and friends! We’ll get started in just a minute. Gotta make sure nopony’s running late.”
The gray mare quickly peeks outside of the shop’s open door, then trots back to the front of her audience of roughly a dozen ponies.
Lucky Smith: “Alright, looks like that’s everypony for this round! Hi! I’m Lucky Smith, and today, I’ll be teaching you how to make a horseshoe out of one of these!”
Lucky Smith gestures to a nearby shelf where a selection of plain metal bars is displayed. You count ten different colours, some shinier than others.
Lucky Smith: “From left to right, we’ve got aluminium, brass, bronze, copper, electrum, gold, silver, steel, tin, and zinc. All of these metals are perfect for beginners, so don’t be shy — pick your favourite!”
