Orthodox Christians mark Christmas on January 7.
It’s based on the Julian calendar for religious celebrations, which existed before the Gregorian one.
The Chinese New Year operates on the same principle. It’s based on the Lunar calendar and since the moon changes slightly every year, the Chinese New Year falls on a different day every year.
