I guess Satan needs to do more research on G5.
(Also this is my 600th comment, clearly the devil’s at work here)
Edited
‘But all the ponies in G5 have two-part names so far.’
Fair point, though that doesn’t necessarily apply to all of them.
Correct. Mind, I wasn’t denying ponies could have last names at all, just that some ponies with “last names” seemed to just be one whole name with two sections (Sweetie Belle, Big Macintosh, etc,) as exist irl as well.
Edited
I can’t prove it, but I feel like the second word was called a “last name” in-show at some point. Don’t know if there’s transcripts somewhere to dig through, or if someone with better knowledge of G5 could back up or refute this.
Just because they’re not tagged with last names doesn’t mean they don’t have them. Jazz has had the last name Hooves in toys. Some of them weren’t initially included in animated media, such as IIRC Alphabittle Blossomforth and Rocky Riff.
But all the ponies in G5 have two-part names so far. The only exception is Misty. But that’s because Opaline Arcana doesn’t give a f***.
