yep, out of the big 3 FoE stories though (the original, murkey #7, and PH) i really think poor BJ got off the worst, she eventually found a measure of happiness but it took over a century after her adventure ended…its a damn good thing she is the element of ‘perseverance’ cause otherwise shed have never made it as far as she did

Deus/Doof was indeed a shadow archetype of Blackjack, both being not too clever, gun fans, pretty passive at first, indulge in drugs and with high sexual urges. Blackjack evens feels horrified when she became a cyborg because of how much she became like Deus (And that physical likelihood grew over time).

Deus in tank form even defected to BJ’s side after she acknowledged his pain because she suffered it too.
The characterization on both and their conflict is quite good.

Blackjacks conflict with deus was a bit prophetic really, she could have easily became very much like him, and physicly she prety much did, it was only thru shere determination that she did not…during a vision at one point she even showed that she knew ‘exactly what she would be life if she gave into the urge…she was that tightly pushed up against that line that she could see over it, know every action that selfish and jaded version of her would take, and whats more know that her life would be easier and maybe even ‘happier’ for it…but still choseing to do what was right for the greater good, time, and time again.
it wasnt even that that version of her wouldn’t have still saved the hoof…but she would have done it for the wrong reasons, and BJ wanted no part of that
