Fluttershy really IS an earth pony with wings. Derpy is always odd. This is why these two are the most caring and friendly pegasi that we see. The rest have an underlying cultural machismo strain leftover from their pre-equestrian ‘imperialist sparta’ days.  
Blossomforth, Flitter, Cloudchaser have lived amongst earth ponies awhile, but still have a slightly intangible ‘athletic aloofness’ about them.
