Luna’s reaction to Earthbound coming to the Wii U E-Shop. Note: I used this version of Gamer Luna because the more happy one wasn’t powerful enough to contain her gamer hype.
If you ask me, there aren’t enough Japan-only games being released for those, and to be fair, most of the old ones that were don’t requite much translation. (“Sin & Punishment” did require some new english text, but all the voice acting was already completely in english oddly.)
In fact, Super Mario Bros.: Lost Levels was devoid of any Japanese text whatsoever in Japan. Only thing changed for the Virtual Console version was the loading screens were removed. (Sense it was a Famicom Disc System game, but it doesn’t need those on VC.)
In fact, surprisingly the game “The Mysterious Murasame Castle” was just released in Europe for 3DS Virtual Console. (Maybe ’cause said game was featured in “NintendoLand.”) Hope it comes here to.
That’d be cool to see. Problem is, most companies find it’s cheaper just to throw old Japanese games onto VC/PSN/whatever without translating them. Which isn’t always a bad thing, since many of them are shmups, fighters and puzzle games.
Yeah, I mentioned that, but as I said Nintendo might not be able to use it, sense they can’t accept fan-stuff, due to legal reasons, and crap…
Somebody should start a company translating/localizing old Japanese games so they can come to Virtual Console, and such. Though, it probably wouldn’t be that profitable, and be able to maintain itself… (Depending on how it’s done.)
Though, M2 seems to be fine with it’s business of remaking games. (Like the GBA VC games they did for WiiU, and the 3D Sega Genesis classics on 3DS.)
For Mother 3, Tomato (the guy who handled the fan translation) said he’d let Nintendo use his. But I doubt Nintendo even would make a fan translation official.
Not likely those games would require translation. (And Mother 3 would require ALOT of translation, as it’s quite text-heavy, I hear.)
Though, NOA might still have their official translation of the NES/Famicom Mother 1, (AKA “EarthBound Zero”) so it might have a chance. Also, the people who did the fan-translation of “Mother 3” stated they’d gladly give Nintendo all rights to their translation if it meant getting the game a legit/official release. (Though, might be to much legal red-tape to keep that from happening.)
I kinda wish they would do more international releases of Virtual Console games personally. Some NES games like “Lost Levels” didn’t even require translating at all, as quite a few old Japanese games use english text.
And it will be worth it.
As TurboJ said, if it sells really well here, then they might release the other Earthbound games on Virtual Console.
Nintendo is testing us.
“rereleasing the rest of the series”
I think you finally release the rest of the series outside of Japan, only the one was ever released outside of Japan.
If the VC release sells well, they might start rereleasing the rest of the series. And considering us in Europe never got any of the series, this is going to be awesome.
This news made my day.
Still, it’s a real/legal rerelease, and the fact Nintendo’s been reluctant to rerelease the game here for years on Wii, (even going so far as to edit out the “EarthBound” demo in the USA version of SSBBrawl.) this is a freaking miracle.
@Invader TAK
Indeed, I hate how they have a separate VC service for both systems… Wii owners like myself are also missing out on the 30-cent monthly VC games from the “Famicom 30th anniversary Virtual Console” promotion.
It’s like Nintendo is punishing us for not buying a WiiU… (Just like all the discount, or free games they used to have on 3DS… Now that I have a 3DS, they stopped doing discounts for VC games!)
To quote the author of VGCats, I feel like a “beaten wife” with Nintendo sometimes… No matter how many times they b****-slap me, I still love them.
>not official mother 3 release
>already played and beated the original on snes emulador years ago
sorry but i must say this is meh…
I know, right?
I’m planning on getting a Wii U this Summer, but it’s still kind of a pain.
>not the mother collection
Screw that, I want the real deal!
