That top panel makes me think a lot about “Everything goes on” by Porter Robinson, the whole song is about someone who has to leave their loved one and telling them that it’s fine, because even once they’re gone, everything goes on.

Edit : Now that I think about it the entire story reminds me of this song.
Things like “Let’s pretend a little longer” and “I told you to forget me but you stayed by my side” is very reminiscent of the last few pages (cause c’mon we know very well he’s right here)
