I can agree to that, can you believe they want to make it even easier now? That’s actually why I left, no challenge to it anymore…I remember when running the Deadmines was hard as BALLS back in the day…and that was before you even entered the bloody instance! You had to fight through hoards of elites to just have the privilege to enter the bloody dungeon!
You know, when elite meant being actually “elite”, that golden dragon was something you feared back in the day, now you only fear it if it’s a boss or you’re outnumbered…
But then again, we all have our own reasons for leaving when/if we did.
While Classic WoW was worse mechanically, it was much more immersive than it was after each expansion. However, Cataclysm is the expansion that fully killed the immersion aspect of the game, even as it streamlined itemization.
Karazhan will forever be my #1 WoW jam. I have some hardcore nostalgia for that raid, since it was my very first. 10 man Dragon Soul had a similar sort of experience since that was me starting out with a brand new guild.
Still, I got to the point where it was getting repeditive again, so I’m probably not picking it up again until 5.3 hits, and then mostly just because its finally time to start kicking Garrosh’s stupid fucking face to the curb
Also, because of my lifetime Alliance membership self smirking with smug satisfaction as the Horde starts to crumble, tearing itself apart as it becomes increasingly apparent that the Alliance and Horde are as on as much neutral moral ground as the NCR and Legion were respectively in Fallout New Vegas.
I don’t actually have any real issues with playing horde, I’ve just always played Alliance, and Garrosh is a giant cunt. Vol’Jin is fucking awesome, though.
I’m not gonna pretend its not a Skinner-boxing time sink, but its hardly this inescapable monstrous thing. I’ve stopped playing it for several months at a time, typically only picking it back up again if a new major content patch or expansion comes out. I’ll play it for a while to do however much of the new stuff entertains me, then stop playing again once I’m satisfied, just like I would with any other game, eg, Skyrim.
It was hard but I got out.
Then again, I liked most of Burning Crusade and the beginning areas of Wrath of the Lich King were… just… so immersive to me. So what do I know?
It was a game that gave you virtual heroin. And I’m now a better person for forever leaving WoW.
Haha, oh wow.
Yeah, no. Classic WoW was objectively worse before the expansions. Mechanics were busted, leveling was a grueling chore, half the quests were boring as fuck grind for stuff that should drop all the time but never does type bullshit.
The only advantage it has is 1. nostalgia and 2. a larger percentage of good looking armor to stupid looking armor.
And most of the good looking classic armor had completely shit itemization. And this was back before transmogrification let you actually take advantage of that sweet looking gear and, you know, actually customize your character.
A time when talents weren’t actually useful abilities you got to pick from, but allowed you to completely fuck yourself over and be objectively useless as a character. When if you didn’t spec your points in exactly the right way, you were mathematically wrong.
Its one of the best looking armor sets, period.
Check it.
Best pony, ladies and gentlemen.
No, this is a WoW armor set, tier 2 armor set found in Blackwing Lair.
