I think what makes it work so well is the fact that it’s ultimately a much more realistic portrayal of the kind of friendship a human would have with magical, super-powerful ponies. It’s not so much that the human is always getting the short end of the stick so much as it is… well, if you lived/were pals with two/three/four Princesses with a penchant for lighthearted pranking, what would you expect to happen to you?
 
I mean he gets his peaceful or otherwise not-wacky moments sometimes, but if you were buddies with beings who had five zillion different kinds of advantages over little old you, it’s kind of an inevitable thing. A lot of HiE stuff tends to gloss over that.

Luna really loves to tease Tommy.

I’ve seen pictures of the guy making these and I think English is his second language, so I’d cut him some slack.
 
I like a bunch of his stuff, particularly his anthros, and he never gets all Gary Stu with his self insert character. Plus he draws human characters in a sryle that reminds me of late 80s early 90s anime, which is pretty cool.
