Description
I kind of stumbled into another form of fanart that I hadn’t given much thought so far. On one ocassion back in 2002 I did a linocut (that is carving a printing plate from linoleum) during a students exchange.
The museum where I am working since last May includes a section about printing where old printing presses are displayed and sometimes put to use for the visitory. I am quite fascinated with printing and the rotary press that I might be trained for (so I may operate it for the visitors myself) in the future caught my interest. The head of the printing section of the museum confirmed to me that technically it would be quite possible to use linocuts on the press. Though when I showed him the above linocuts I made he recommended that I should first try them at home manually because of a high likelihood that the rather filigree parts I had carved might get damaged in the rotary press, so I should only put them to use there once I got enough manual prints so damage to the printing plates wouldn’t be too harsh a loss anymore.
I followed his advise and printed both of the plates a couple of times. I shall post the results soon :)

As for the choice of motives (Nightmare Moon and Celestia) it was strongly inspired by the upcomming Czequestria that I am very much looking forward to. Given more time I would probably try to carve printing plates and create prints dedicated to Luna and Daybreaker too and also one dedicated to harmony between the two sisters (which would be the ideal I would prefer among the other options ;) (Wink)), but I’m afraid time is running out for that. I shall take some prints of the above printing plates along however.
