The punchline is bronies are to be hated
“As in”? My mother is dyslexic, as in I hate dyslexic people.
See? Coherence. None.
I understand the implication. I’m just saying the punchline makes no sense.
Let me explain.
Parents are saying this to their kids.
They see the brony and assume he is a pedo so they tell their kids to get in the car so they can get away from the “pedo”.
Also, that punchline doesn’t make any sense.
It is really hard to source what happens on TV you know.
And this episode ended 6 minutes ago.
More padding=more screen time=less effort.
The thing is they wanted to make a “creepy guy” joke. You don’t need to know what bronies are to make a “creepy guy” joke, since people already associate men liking things meant for little girls as creepy. The whole explanation was dead weight.
That’s why modern SNL isn’t as good, to much obvious set-up and over-reach. Older shows felt more improvised and organic.
I think the guy here is the head writer, too.
The way they went with the joke required so much setup, would have been funnier if they had done it a different way.
“Apples and apple trees not included with Kung-fu Applejack, beg your parents for more money”
I have a feeling they just added a laugh track.
But Action Figure Applejack has Kung Fu Bucking
I’m not even sure I can identify it as a pedophile joke.
It seems more like a vague negative sentiment joke that they really hadn’t thought through very much and didn’t really understand.
I wonder if they knew what they were laughing about or if they were just laughing along?
I seriously see a whole lot of people on the internet still ask “whats a brony?”
SNL would probably be full of non-internet people.
