Haha thats a heart warming story. :D
Yes perhaps it may help to read the instructions first. Maybe just a quick skim or do it step by step.
I have a similar mind set like you explained, Set up first. get everything nice and ready and in order.
Read instructions. maybe go step-by-step. haha

She wasn’t even invited. She was attending some homeowner’s association back in Sire’s Hollow when her mother’s sense started tingling.

My dad does not mock my ability to build flat-packed IKEA furniture - I mock his.
I’ve put together two 8ft tall bookcases in about a couple of hours each. I deliberately didn’t ask him for help because if I had, I know I would’ve take about 8 hours to put ONE bookcase together. He does not do flat pack furniture. xD (He put up my sister’s dining table and did such a bad job of it, he had to drill new holes to make everything fit together. It’s PRE-DRILLED! xD
Problem is, I know how my dad works - he gets all the pieces out and starts building. He does NOT do instructions, ever, for anything at all; just tosses the instruction book aside (or, at best, asks me to read it) while he gets stuck straight in - and usually ends up making a mess of it. Sure, I spend 20 minutes reading the instruction booklet cover-to-cover first, and another 10 minutes laying out all the pieces, getting necessary equipment and generally “setting myself up”, but I end up doing a better job of it than my dad would, and a faster one too. :)

Parents are exceptional in the art of mocking the inexperience of their children.
How quickly they forget the same position they were once in.
The easier solution is to offer help. The crueller solution is to mock them in a harsh moment of satisfaction. There is no need to mock them if they say “No.”
