Anyone still complaining about Princess Twilight: it’s Word of Faust that she intended, at some point, Twilight would succeed Celestia, the Cutie Mark Crusaders would get their cutie marks, and other characters reaching their goals or major milestones.

This would be awesome if it happened!!

Uh, the entire show is about her learning to better herself, and she’s definitely shown growth over the seasons. The entire point of the friendship reports and whatever was for her to keep track of what she had learned. Not to mention all the other stuff she learned along the way, like how to communicate better, how to deal with stress, etc.
 
Not to mention that the “manipulation” is horribly played up. Twilight’s looked up to Celestia and wanted to emulate her since day one (See “Cutie Mark Chronicles”), and outside of surprise, Twilight never acts like becoming a princess was a bad thing for her. She’s wary at first, but once she realizes she’ll still have her friends she’s fine with it.
