No problem I try to be as respectful and cordial as I can when it comes to responding.
Your response is very much appreciated and I love your explanation, for the human brain comment it’s given me something to use for how others react to him at first so I thank you for it. I hope to “take the edge off” gradually for this character as the story progresses. I thank you for the good wishes as well.

Hello. Kinda surprised of how cordial was your response. I feel like I should reciprocate.
Undead and vampire, without the “classy” aura of some vampires, rusty power armour with spikes and glowing sickly green with lightning, the triple scars on the eye, which are red, slitted and glowing too, tattered bat pony wings, fangs and scruffy look all add to the Edgy look.
It’s not negative to have some of these to spice up a character, but some may feel detached to something looking like this at first glance. Human brain is hardwired to feel fear and rejection against those kind of creatures, because they usually mean danger, either be by aggresiveness (scars usually mean it has been in a brutal fight and survived) or disease (The scruffy look and decayed skin is easily associated with unhealthiness, and the rust on the armour that could carry Tetanus bacteria).
Is it bad? Depends.
Edgy characters written by first-timers are dark for the shake of it and lack any other characterization trait, yet you are supposed to sympatize with them. As much as one would enjoy corrupting something cute and pure as a pony, it has to add something else to be appealing. Something like characterization, decisions made along the way, goals, elements that the readers could relate to. No person is pure dark or white, and “Edgy” characters tend to be the former.
Doesn’t have to be automatically bad, though. Littlepip became a Blood-manipulating pseudoalicorn and Blackjack a revenant dark knight alicorn cyborg. Note than none started that way, though, it was part of their character development.
For the comments on your story and first chapters, I can tell he’s way nicer than it looks, even with the downplayed reaction to the massacre. So not really that edgy in terms of personality. An advantage of writting is that you can gloss over the looks of the character in favor of actions and reactions, so many of the points on the third parragraph would be negated.
It can still spring through in-story reactions from others and self. It can be a plot point. It can even be a reason to root for it, for example, if disproportionately judged by the appearance (Once the reader knows and starts to care about the person behind those edgy physical traits). You can play it in many ways.
Lastly: I didn’t mean these to be the Gospel, just personal thoughts on the topic that may not be correct.
(And forgive me for any misspellings, as English is not my first language) Thanks! Good luck on your fic!
