Edited to add note: Based on a lot of feedback, I’m going to also explore Twilight’s side of things for a more balanced and fair treatment of events. That’ll occur over in the A Morning With The Night series.

Every time I read this page, I’m shocked and surprised at how sweet little Sonata loses her temper so vehemently at Twilight and it’s Adagio and Aria holding her back instead of the other way around. This is perhaps my favorite page of the series because of that.

We Crossdress Harder
My favorite part of this is Adagio. She’s playing her part to the hilt, but that’s all she is doing. She sees an opportunity to get some digs in and look dramatic, but it’s Sonata who cuts deep. Adagio echoes Twilight’s self-recriminations twice, and in doing so inadvertently shows that echoes are all she’s got–but she’s still milking them for every bit of power she can get.

I found it a bit ironic that Sonata the smallest and calmest of the three “sisters” is the one to get right in Twilight’s face bitching her out. (It was also a bit humorous to me.)
Oh! And Adagio, the meaning of “pardon” is to forgive. When you are pardoned for past wrongdoings, you are forgiven for committing them and it’s like they never happened.

and a fair enough counterpoint it is.
what particularly bothers me, however, is that there was no follow-up after their defeat or investigated farther.
I always found it kind of ironic that they kind of addressed this concerning starswirl’s actions in the very episode they guest starred in.

There is a followup in the works, which will be in the A Morning With The Night series, focusing on her perspective. Because of course, she did kind of leave them for dead after defeating them without thinking…but she also did have to defeat them because they were preying on the school.
I had thought that side of things went without saying, but I’ve gotten enough pushback that it is clear that it is worth exploring.

The more I look at this part… the clearer it gets that it really does need a followup. Because if you read it another way, Sonata’s outraged comments can be summarised as: “You are prey! How dare you fight back!”
And that, should get some serious pushback.

Sonata is the smallest of them. Not being able to feed most likely affected her the hardest. It probably frightened her greatly thinking she might die. She would have more resentment against Princess Twilight and the EQG.

The Sirens are also going to probably have to come to terms with that same fact: They did kind of bring it upon themselves by getting greedy instead of just surviving. It will be interesting to explore their evolving perceptions of What Went Down from their current semi-reformed position. And probably nail down more of what exactly happened in this universe’s version of events.
That could be very interesting, given that Sonata probably has a very different idea of what they were trying to do, and why it resulted the way it did, than Adagio does. Even just in this episode it’s clear Sonata’s “you tried to kill us!” was a much stronger reaction than Aria’s and Dagi’s.

Being someone who makes comics myself and used to do a lot of writing, it’s in my nature to care. I understand how it feels to chare about the characters you create yourself. And that in turn makes me understand others have the same values in their own work. When someone makes a long comic like yours, they are giving a whole life to the characters they are drawing.

I find the logic of when people say “It’s just porn” to be rather stupid and unoriginal. They may be in a porn comic, and fictional characters no less, but they are also living their own lives. People raise debates over fiction all the time. And debating is one of the ways people learn as a whole. Because with comics like this, it’s not just porn. It’s a story. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So how many is a comic worth? Whether good or bad, I’d rather hear people constructively point out a comic’s good and bad points, rather than just trolling it or saying they hate it. I personally really like this comic. And Adagio is my favorite character in it. She’s always been my favorite among the sirens.

I had imagined Twilight’s reaction here largely being the result of the revelation of what she had unknowingly done, and that she hadn’t even thought about. Having that blow her mind a little, combining with her own deep insecurities to kind of just make her crumple emotionally here and be unable to deal.
The pushback I’ve gotten here from a few readers has raised good points, and convinced me that I do need to put effort into actively delving into the other side of the issue: the necessity of her actions. I was mostly taking that as obvious enough (in my own head) to not need retreading. But stating one side and not stating the other is kind of unfair to the characters and situation.
So Twilight is going to have a bit of an emotional journey to accept BOTH the fact that she had to do what she did to defeat genuinely dangerous villains…AND the fact that she didn’t consider what would happen afterwards, effectively (unintentionally) almost making their crimes into a capital offence.
So while I do stand by what I did in this episode… I’ve been convinced that I really do need to actively show more of both sides of the story instead of just assuming they go without saying. So I’m going to work on that in upcoming episodes. Hopefully this episode will seem less objectionable if I don’t just leave it here as it stands.

That much I agree with. However if a group of people are putting an entire school in danger, you’re first thought is gonna be how to stop them. And with using friendship magic, which historically speaking either de-powers or purifies an enemy, the last thing Twilight would expect with it is that it could kill.
