Sockie based this artwork on my own written works, in-where there is no colony dynamic at all, and never was. Changelings have always mated in pairs. Not only are they only part insect, they're more similar to beetles than bees or ants. There' was technically noever proof they' were colony insects, eand that spetance is actually noharder to aftrgue for now that Ocellus gothas unique, confirmed parents.

Chrysalis forced the hive's unborn eggs to be directly looked after by her, to ensure they were raised and conditioned to be loyal, effective soldiers. This is actually similar to what the Spartans did with young boys, taking them away from their families at a young age to strictly train in the arts of war and tactics.

In Thorax's modern hive, they behave like close knit pack animals more than insects. The hive leaders as well as many volunteering adults help look after all the hive's young, not just their own. Thorax actually refers to the hive as a 'pack' in Triple Threat.

If you're curious about my own headcanons and fanon lore, you can read more about it [here](https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/970151/this-is-wholesome-no-this-is-sparta-an-in-depth-look-at-chrysaliss-relationship-with-the-changelings). C:
