The cuts were likely added to be able to add the live-action segment at the end of the show. I can’t think of ANYTHING that has ever been in FiM that would need to be cut because of cultural differences.
 
The only cuts I noticed were two scenes that didn’t add too much to the story (RD trying to suppress her laughter at twilight, and the part where Twilight looks at the moon, hoping the legend isn’t true.

Transformers Animated got 3 minutes cut off per episode for longer title and credits sequences plus an added live action sequence when it aired in Japan. They simply adapt the show to fit their needs.

I didn’t watch the whole thing, but may be something to do with script/translating?  
I, as a Jap prefer Eng version. Still hoping for new viewers within JPN though.

They cut some scenes but overall it was pretty good. AJ was slightly disappointing but it’s only the first episode.
