it wouldn’t be far off if they have cranes to lift those, in case if they need one to transport the box with a Unicorn/Pegasus contained in it, before the event of the movie, or if they to lift it to do some maintenance underneath it.

and considering that the trap’s control panel is placed in the bottom, it makes sense of why it’s placed there, cause if any trap with some technology made with it, it needs to be in someplace where only a certain few can know where to access it, and it probably explains why hitch somehow forgot where the panel was until he looked under it, which luckily for him, Izzy was already levitating it for him.

I won’t argue that Friendship is Magic looks a lot better. It’s more smooth and pretty, while Tell Your Tale is more snappy and basic.
But I will argue that this is a free, weekly web series on YouTube, whereas The Hub/Discovery Family/Netflix are paid cable networks/streaming services. So they had a better budget to work with. Not to mention that FiM was their primary means of promoting their merchandise. TYT is just their supplementary means of spreading awareness of their brand on a free platform that a lot of kids use. The upcoming Make Your Mark special and series no doubt will have more time and money put into them.

And I’d like to think this is more positively received than Pony Life for two main reasons.
One, the writing is more grounded and simpler to follow. PL was a lot more chaotic and confusing.
Two, the characters are still very true to how we know them from the movie. So it feels less jarring than how we went from FiM to PL.

I didn’t watch TYT yet, and PL I watched two episodes of before dropping.

But PL just looked objectively better than TYT by a long shot. At least there the ponies still looked sorta like ponies instead of looking like a cross between Steven Universe and a Chad Wojak.

Pony life is pretty bad when comparing to tell your tale, besides people think that TYT is worth watching more than PL.

But also. Tell your Tale is a spinoff series and you should prooooooobably compare it to Pony Life instead of Friendship is Magic. Not that this makes it look good, in fact I’d argue the reason Tell your Tale feels so bad is because it’s ugly even compared to the OTHER cheap spinoff series.

The actual proper TV show with a proper story is Make your Mark, which is coming to Netflix later this year, and will use the 3D models from the Movie.

Okay, i’m gonna be “That gal” and say what most people are probly thinking…

The art style looks and feels…lazy and rushed.

So let’s look back at G4 for a few moments here.

Please note the amount of fine detail paid attention to their facial features, heads, and bodies. Notice how they have a “polished” look? Notice how the animation looks smooth frame by frame?

Now look up the the above image, notice how things in comparison look less than polished? How the animation is much faster which means less frames were used to animate the characters and scene. How the characters look less detailed. Their legs look like toothpicks almost, the pegasus wings for the two pegasi DO NOT look proportional to the bodies at all.

It’s almost as if they were pasted on as a last minute addition because the director walked over and said “Uhh, those two are supposed to be pegasus ponies.” And the artist/animator went realized the deadline was on top of them, went “oh shit!, quickly drew some wings for both of them and pasted them on.

The manes and tails look like they had almost no effort put into them and frankly I think Rarity would horror scream if she saw them.:P

Now as a final point to make for anyone who may try to say “well they’re on a tight schedule! So of course it’s gonna be a little rushed!” i’d like to point out that for every episode of G4 the studio had a max of 1-2 months to produce a FULLY POLISHED G4 episode to meet the season deadline PER EPISODE. If they can produce high quality art for each episode, there’s no excuse these people couldn’t do the same.

Now i hear you saying: “Most of the episodes were done with flash and they already had the assets for most of those episodes!” and you’d be right. So why didn’t the studio in charge of these shorts create a fully polished asset library like G4’s studio did?

Now, i fully understand this is not G5 proper, these are shorts, preparing us for the real G5 to be released sometime next year but that’s not gonna stop me from being an art critic over this.

In closing, I don’t care for this art style nor the fast paced animation they’ve chosen to use. As one final point for those who may think that transitioning them from 3D to 2D is why they look like this, i’d like to blow that arguement to tartarus and back with the following art piece done by thatusualguy06:

Yeah a part of me is thinking that, plus after what his mother said in front of pipp in her new new saloon, I somewhat think that she’s helping him find a way to take out the mane 5 even hitch and sunny, after rightfully making him a traitor.

Actually I think that’s the arming button for the pressure plate that Izzy’s standing on.

And I think that’s a keyhole next to it, probably to gain manual access to the pressure sensor under the plate there, and possibly the control panel for the main release button, which I think someone might’ve sabotaged the panel by opening it with a key, which might explain why that red button wasn’t working to free Izzy from it.
