Through this whole process I’m imagining somehow you’ve got actual John de Lancie at your casual weekend D&D group and you have to figure out how to rein him in because his sheer dramatic intensity is scaring your regulars, who have no idea this guy’s a celebrity. There are far worse situations to be in, but that’s a tricky line to walk all the same.

Fluttershy: Hey, um, could I ask a favor?
Discord GM: Why, anything! As long as it’s not taking it easy on you all in the game.
Fluttershy: Haha, of course not. No, it’s just… I know you’re having fun hamming it up, but, um… When we’re outside the game, talking out of character, would you mind… turning the energy down a notch? It’s just that, well, for some of us, mainly me, this is kind of a relaxation activity, so… I think there might be a little friction there, is all. And again, just talking about /outside/ the game.
Discord GM: Ah, I see. That would explain a few things. I’d love to say that’s no imposition… but I must confess it is, a little bit. Going all-out is how /I/ like to unwind after a busy week.
Fluttershy: I understand.
Discord GM: But! Last time there were a lot of toes stepped on, and I was just wondering what I could do to make things more “frictionless” for Round 2. So if that’s what works best for this group, then I shall indeed “turn it down a notch.” Just a notch, though.
Fluttershy: We’ll… work on it as we go.
