It feels almost like a Mario game, let’s see what we have here:
 
A teenaged female character who in any other show would be in the role Celestia fulfills in the series, kidnapped and mind-raped by a monstrous villain.
 
The fact that the villain who kidnaps her is monstrous looking.
 
A short sawed off runt capable of double jumps and shooting fireballs with a romantic interest in her takes a very active role in the mission to rescue her.
 
All that’s missing so far are goombas and koopa troopas

Everyone expected a reverse SomE. I wasn’t expecting they’d use the same Fire Ruby.

Luna’s S1 design is intentional. She either lsot her powers or her appearance changes according to the lunar phases. On the #8 cover she’s back in S2 design.

I thought it took place between season 1 and 2. Judging from Luna’s hair.

The first arc does. The second one, I believe, happens at some point during S3, going by how the cover for the last issue has both Trixie and Lightning Dust on it.
