I love how Spike has patched the teddy bear that was accidentally impaled on his tail in the pilot so that Moondancer can still have it in the end.

I find that beyond far fetched, mainly because she’d be “tearing the place apart” all night. Spike IS rather small. Add to it that he left with the 6 later that night AFTER the mayhem of the GGG that chased everyone away and chances are she’d go home.

I think Spike just habitually crushes on ponies. :p His mating habits have been completely messed up by his enviroment, the poor thing.
 
I wrote an (unfinished) fic once about TS&Spike visiting home (it’d have been about TS trying to demonstrate her friendship learnings in Canterlot, ending up overcompensating when she realizes that the three unicorns from the beginning of the pilot know her even though she hardly remembers them).
 
Anyway, I slipped in some scenes about Spike fretting over how he’s going to tell Moondancer that he likes Rarity now. It is all completely superfluous because only Spike imagined his “progress” as being anything other than friends, but he manages to “let her down gently” in the end (in his mind, at least).

Like if each of them had hatched him instead of Twilight? That would be an interesting study in environmental influence on development. I also wonder if, in the same way Spike ended up having the same scale color as Twilight, he would take on some trait of another pony who hatched him, or if that was just coincidence.

It’s interesting to think that Spike already had somepony he was close enough to that he would bring her gifts at a party while Twilight was still burying her nose in books and sheltering in her library/room in Canterlot (Jeez, has Twi always lived in places with massive bookshelves?).
 
Interesting thought… how about a series of fan fics about Spike growing up with Moondancer, Trixie Lulamoon, and Sunset Shimmer instead of Twilight?

Weirdly, I had this thought that Moondancer and Spike had something going on when Spike mentioned that teddy bear being his gift to her.

Well, that’s just depressing.

Now keep in mind that Moondancer here didn’t get to hang out and have donuts with her friends and the Princess later. Nope, instead she was all alone with her heartbreak.
