well for one he often doesn’t think to that level with his magic, for two the same reason he let chrysalis go once he had flutters in his arms and never went to tartarus to jack bauer tirek because despite his wrath has limits. More reason to give that the trio aren’t awake beyond just word of god saying it.

You know, for being someone who was desesperated to get Fluttershy and trying to be better… why he didn’t simply blackmail Chrysalis and her kingdom with a meteor rain to free the victims? I know there’s an anti-magic dome, but with the simple implication teletransportation can still be used but outside the dome, I don’t think attracting meteorites while creating an even bigger dome that prevents further damage from the impact and preventing changelings from getting out if they don’t hand over the abductees is a bad idea at least within the mind of someone as extreme as Discord.

Trixie is just the best here. I love how she does these witty banters against Discord and gets on his nerves in this episode. Somepony’s gotta put that Draconequus in his place.

To be fair she neither has the power or the chaotic mindset to use bad guys to build a friends confidence as a leader, shes just a normal pony only someone like discord could think of something like that and would see it as doing good because of literally who and what he is.

Even though trixie is saying it just because she’s annoyed and trying to insult him. I will say she is actually giving him good advice to use his head, not to say that he can’t be smart and isn’t genuinely powerful given what he does in his first appearance and maybe trixie isn’t too much one to talk on this but his arrogance has cost him greatly more than once even after this.
