If I remember my lore correctly, Only those with proper knowledge can access the prophesy stored within an elder scroll. to anyone else it just looks like nonsense. and even though the cost of the knowledge is blindness, permanent blindness only sets in after multiple readings.

so she should be be to normal in a few hours.

Yeah, just looking at them won’t do anything. It’s the Ancestral Moth cult that uses magic to look at them. But at the cost of making them blind for longer periods of time.

After a while they just go totally blind and then live in the black tunnels underneath the monastary in the mountains.
