Note that only the socket in the Sheriff’s office looks like that. Others that we see in the movie look more like a mix of the UK plug with a US-style rounded earth pin at the top, making them look vaguely like an upside-down smiley face.

Yeah, if you wanna standardise the world, maybe don’t use the oldest, most decrepit system still in operation today as a template…
US outlets are some of the worse in terms of safety. But, it’s what we are stuck with. Honestly, the best outlets in the world are the UK outlets. Tom Scott did a good summary of it.

Yes! They look exactly like the NEMA 5-15 with the ground connector rotated 180 degrees.

They’re a modified version of the US NEMA 5-15 outlet.
The other outlets we see in the movie (in the factory and in Sunny’s house) are similar, but upside down and with square holes for the “eyes”.
