Not to mention there numerous appearances in the comics that I'm aware aren't canon but considering all of that including there popularity in the fandom I strongly suspect "Bat ponies" to make an appearance in G5 to some compacitity.

> One of the main themes of G5 is exploring and reuniting Equestria while dashing prejudices and Bat Ponies would make the perfect edgy species that everyone would be unanimously creeped out over right next to the Changelings, and Dragons which would be terrorizing than creepy.

Many of Faust´s ideas were rejected by HASBRO (or even worse, micromanaged through executive medling); the song "Art of the Dress" in S1E14 was in part a disguised "protest" against this interference & was mainly the reason she stepped down from her "creative" position for season 2.

Larson had to quickly "replace" Amy Keating Rogers in the task of making a new script for the 100th (after her original "proposal (a "Tour of Ponyville", rather than a wedding) was discarded entirely); since she HAD to take her days of vacations right then or lose them, she was "unavailable" to redo it again.
Instead they switched places, with her doing his scheduled script for "The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone" [S1E08] since it required more time anyways to develop all the aditional griffon puppets & specific Flash assets.
He had less than 2 weeks to "do the research" on the "famous" background ponies (by rewatching many episodes) & to think how to include some of the fandom references [going by the notes of Rogers].
-> The director Jim Miller and/or the "animatics supervisor" removed some scenes with any ideas that were already rejected previously (extending other scenes to complete the runtime, like the one of Vinyl & Octavia making a song); since Larson had no prior knowledge of this "conversations" with the HASBRO´s liasons (handled previously by Faust, Rogers & Rob Renzetti].

For G5 it is likely the case that non_pony races would not even appear for the first 2 seasons (already scheduled for production by Atomic Cartoons); so having "variants" of pegasus ponies that actually DO follow some of the "bad stereotypes" (agressive & "ugly", but not actually violent or monstrous) would be interesting.
