During the Cold War, as a neutral country, they did relatively okay, at least better than the Eastern block countries. Then a bloody breakup happened. Bosnia and Herzegovina is still politically a mess and Serbia’s ability to make friends is limited until they rescind their claim to Kosovo.
It thrived for awhile
And West Germany, except the flag is weirdly cropped, so it’s difficult to tell.
