I didn’t think it would be possible that I’ll develop a pet peeve of this type of thing but apparently Derpy is my last straw. It’s bad enough that most complainers do it to Lyra but now they’re doing it to our loveable Derpy, who most of us agree that her flaw is being clumsy ala Goofy style, but is still pretty smart.
 
Basically my new pet peeve is people using characters as voice pieces to complain about their common interpretations among the fandom. I mean seriously if you have a different interpretation of how Derpy, Berry, or most importantly Lyra on how they should really act, then show/make us pictures of these characters doing different things instead of using them to complain about their common personality. Show us Derpy being smarter than the average pony, Berry being an overprotective mother than an obssessive drunk (although my headcannon is that Berry is likes to drink liquid beverages alot, meaning instead of having a cup of water/orange she’ll drink a whole gallon of it instead), and Lyra having different interest than humans all the while not taking potshots at their common interpretations. Then maybe, just maybe other artists/authors will accept your head cannons as well and make art with these head cannons instead of the common fanon one.

I respect you, Ms. Kenshire. Heck, I’ve given you free rein over the Multiverse.

And THAT’S why there wasn’t a Rarity episode in S3! She wasn’t available for a long enough time during filming, so they had to keep her in smaller roles!

I’ve had this headcanon for a while. I don’t think she’s a genius like this comic implies, but I don’t think she’s unintelligent by any means. Just very cheerful, cross-eyed, a little clumsy, and perhaps naive. Loves her daughter more than anything, though :)

Also, Spike’s a midget in a costume, Pinkie’s grouchy as fuck when not on set, and Rarity’s a chain-smoker who’s having trouble holding this job since she keeps dropping into rehab

I like to think Derpy isn’t dumb, just very clumsy due to her eye problem and she has a bubbly personality.
