You would not think a NEET like Moondancer would be so powerful. The other two there have been known to engage in high octane zap you in the face with lasers super fights and are capable of bending time and reality to their wills. However a tube of toothpaste has them stymied.

Exactly this, seems like the writer has to make Moondancer compete with something for magical strength somehow to the actual crazy powers Twilight and Starlight both wield.
