There’s not much to imply – anyone who’s picked up a US history book can figure out that, practically speaking, the Civil War WAS fought over slavery. Regardless of how anyone feels/felt about Southern slaveholding, it was the underlying factor in the economic, political, and social conflicts that led to the war.

Right, it was productivity.
Not necessarily, just an overwhelming sense of superiority. No real reason to hate someone that’s beneath you. I’m not saying some slave owners didn’t hate black people, but hate wasn’t the basis for slavery.
