I know that only one fighter would be added if they ever were. But grouping a bunch of characters in as support moves for the main character doesn’t do any of them justice, much less the main character. The other five girls are just relegated to a special move? Twilight barely does anything on her own?
This obviously couldn’t actually happen due to the established hardware limitations, but what if the Mane 6 had the swapping mechanic that Pokémon Trainer has?
The problem is that only one of them would be added to Smash, Sakurai wouldn’t just give SIX character slots so all of the Mane 6 could have unique movesets
The Smash fandom would already get pissed if a cartoon character was added, let alone SIX of them
It would make more sense that Sakurai would give them that “multiple characters in one moveset” type of gimmick so all the Mane 6 could be added than just adding one with a pretty generic moveset and saving them for the Final Smash. Not to mention that having that gimmick WAY better represents the show, which is what all good Smash DLC fighters should do.
Would depend on whether the show was getting one or six slots, mostly. I could definitely see avoiding the question entirely by dropping in Pinkie or something as the representative.
Again, I feel like the controllable character should be the main focus. Imagine if half of Joker’s moves were the Phantom Thieves helping him out. Plus, don’t you think the other five girls deserve their own moveset concepts as well?
She would have had other moves, but conveniently forgot how to do magic to preserve the
plotgame balance.I’m kidding, I’m kidding.
She just seemed like a good opportunity to do an “I get by with a little help from my friends” setup, and doing just some of them felt wrong. Even AJ feels a little bit like a copout.
Yeah, I’ve never liked the idea of “moveset cameos.” This isn’t a moveset for Twilight, it’s a moveset for the Mane 6. If Twilight is the fighter, she should be the one actually doing stuff.
@BiggerNate91
So, to put entirely too much work into it:
>Fairly light, slow faller
>A-moves are generally spacers (long hitbox with different sweet spots), with the usual magic bolts and sparkles
>Long grab game, but low damage
>Up B: Fluttershy catch-n
grab. No hits, but also reduces damage (splitting it with fluttershytoo much damage and she retreats for a bit)>B: Movable magic ‘ring’, gains power the longer it’s out- on release Dash sweeps through (like the Dragoon)
>Side B: Area-denial projectile reflector, can’t recast until it expires or gets melee-smacked; Rarity as an immobile hazard.
>Down B: Randomised area-and-damage Pinkie drop- the smaller it is, the more damage and knockback.
>Taunt: Variety of voiceclips and poses, but outside of competitive, AJ will spawn an apple.
So, vaguely Duck Hunt- A keepaway character that has to balance tossing their friends into the fight with closing, with weird ranged hitboxes and very little durability once closed with.
Your choice of “Stampede of all the ponies”, “Alicoronation”, or “EoH stoning/knockout beam” for a final smash.
Having her friends be part of her moveset would be a better representation of the show than having her just do it alone, the show IS subtitled “Friendship is Magic” after all

Would definitely add more character to her as a fighter than if she did it all by herself.
As a bonus idea, I also imagine if Twilight got hit while doing an attack with one of her friends, they couldn’t be used in the moves they’re usually in. You’d still be able to do them with Twilight alone, but they’d be slightly less powerful.
I thought they would just be in her final smash, taunts, and victory animations.
That actually sounds hella neat.
>Triple jump is a slow flight assist from Fluttershy
>Side b is a randomly-angled Dash zip-through
>etc.
It would make the most sense to have Twilight be the actual fighter (y’know considering she IS the main character) but have her moveset integrate the rest of the Mane 6 (and possibly other characters) in it by making them help you out in the attacks, with even MORE characters making a cameo in the Final Smash
Robot Rock starts playing
GOD
I always pictured her with Cloud’s gimmick of powering up a special attack after filling a meter.
We’re more likely to get her in Brawlhala
I imagine she gots Sephiroth’s mechanic where she’s given wings after taking a certain amount of damage.
It is a good sorta general tag for finding these sorts of images though.
