NG-Luna
As a child Queen Luna was never beloved as well as her elder sister. She was shy, never had the charming tongue Celestia possessed, and was way too comfortable being in the shadows than most of Equestria’s citizens and in turn they shunned the younger princess and her night affinity. As they grew older, Luna began to resent her sister’s natural ability to shine and she fell even further into jealousy and the darkness. It was around that time that an ancient magic had slipped some from the depths of tartarus, seeking out the power that lay hidden in Luna and began to bond with the younger sister’s negative feelings. Luna’s feelings began to grow and twist until the resentment changed into anger and as she succumbed to ancient magic, she began to transform into something sinister. Celestia and the Canterlot court didn’t notice until far too late that Luna’s retreat from society had become dangerous. Finally Nightmare Moon was released unto the world and if it wasn't for the elements of harmony then the world would have been lost to darkness. The experience was harrowing for both sister's and it changed them forever. After banishing Luna and taking over her responsibilities (not really well mind you) Celestia's pink mane began to change in hue until it matched the colors of the fading day. Luna's thousand years as Nightmare Moon left her forever scarred and the vampiric appearance of her monstrous self never really left. It's a constant reminder of her past actions and the consequences that come with said actions. While she was rehabilitated it took a very long time to garner the trust of Equestria's citizens, they feared her more now than they did back then, but thanks to Twilight and her friends Luna knows she has a place in society and a softness in her heart for those who are misunderstood and a compassion for those who wish to rehabilitate their life.
