The very fact that he’s a prince already gives possible redemption. He was raised by royalty to act like royalty, everybody has extremely high expectations of him (Rarity sure did), he always had everything given to him since he was a child, there is a billion of ways that being born with a title could’ve gone wrong and turned him into an idiot. Thankfully, idiots are much easier to fix than flat out evil people like Discord and Chrysalis which bronies will try to write redemption for anyway.

She also has a lot more to work for than he

Woah now. I never said she was a good person for what she did, but it makes her less of a terrible one. You’ll notice that she dropped the act once shit got real(tm) and that makes for possible character redemption. If there was any workable angle to making Blueblood forgivable/acceptable, I surely missed it.

Acting like Trixie admiting she lied at the face of giant bear suddenly makes her a good person is like saying Blueblood isn’t a dick because he warned Rarity of the water puddle.

She called up AJ. Rainbow was the one heckling her, not AJ. So, she chose someone at random to hurt. She’s way worse than Blueblood.

The crowd was heckling her! She issued a challenge and beat them all! With actual talent, no less!  
Later, she admitted she was lying when she knew she couldn’t handle the Ursa and even stayed until the fight was over!  
A show-pony yes, but she’s nothing like cake-dodging, rude, stuck-up Blueblood who’s only positive traits seem to be looking good and being royalty.

Does their act also include humiliating and assaulting other people?

Trixie puts on a performance and has to keep to her act (all the greats do!) while Blueblood is just a snob. It’s not just gender.

Need to resort to insults, Prof? Classy. And oh, one sees herself as better than everypony else, the other as better than commoners… What was your point again? Nevermind you simply ignoring the actual episode.

Love to hate characters are needed, otherwise, who do we love to hate if there is none?

The way I see it, at lest Trixie sees everyone the same, so she is delusional, not Blueblood.

NO stupid, she is self-centered, she sees herself as better then all other, Blueblood sees himself as so highclass only highclass food is good for him…

Well, Prof, if being a pompous jerk is what makes you not like characters, than I don’t see why you like Trixie. She spoke in third person most of the time, for heaven’s sake. And she was actively malicious, unlike Blueblood. So, what exactly makes her likeable?

You have to admit, Nightjack, that there are at least a few double standards regarding their un/popularity.

TBQH, I can’t bring myself to hate any of them. DT, Trixie, Gilda, Blueblood… I love them all!

WRONG, I like Trixie a little and even if she was a guy I would still like her the same, the reason I don’t like Blueblood is that I know some pompous assholes like him in real life and can’t stand them.

I have no idea why people even waste time trying to “redemption” characters like Blueblood and Trixie. Their negative traits is what make them who they are. If you mangle and distort a character to your liking then you probably don’t like them much other than their design.
 
I like Gilda, Trixie, Blueblood and others because they are jerks and I want them to stay jerks.

He wouldn’t get half this amount of hate if he’d either  
a) not been a guy, or  
b) actually did something truly evil. Discord is well-liked, and he’s an a**hole of the highest order. Blueblood’s fault is that he’s not actually evil. Trixie was way worse than he was, but, well, see above. Diamond Tiara is the major exception to this trend; my theory on her is that she’s too young to be considered sexy, so she doesn’t get the usual leeway female characters are afforded.

I actually like Blueblood’s character; so delightfully foppish.

In other words, people like Trixie’s girl voice, so they make up excuses for her.
 
The same with Chrysalis, who has the same voice actor.
 
It really is quite pathetic…

I’d also say because Trixie was putting on a show, so some of her persona could be explained away, while Blueblood was just being himself.
