Feet and hands look way off. The feet look like they’re in an different perspective from the rest of the body and they look really flat too.

@onepinksheep I get you, I was going to change it originally but was trying to keep the expression of the original EG Twilight’s concept art [which has the closed teeth smile].

I still think I’ll go back and fix it when I get home. I kept the file in case I figured out what was wrong with the face so it wouldn’t be too hard.

Well, regarding the smile, the crescent moon-type smile you’ve got going here (and in some of your other works) isn’t bad, per se. It’s rather cartoonish, yes, but that’s not the problem (you’re drawing cartoons, after all). The issue is that a wide, closed teeth smile like that can seem like a forced smile. Maybe try tweaking it (you don’t necessarily need to redraw the entire thing) a bit to seem more natural, like maybe put a gap between the teeth or something to give it more emotion. It helps to use a mirror or photos of realistic smiles as a reference.

[Still the artist, got herself an account]

Thanks, I work very hard. But yeah I do do that a lot with the more one-shot work it seems, never really noticed it. Never really paid attention to the smile thing either but will definitely fix that.

Perhaps it will help to imagine the situation they’re in. Give them a place to look and a thing to react to. I’ll try it with the rest of this series.

Thank you again!

I think it’s the expression on the face. I just browser your DA gallery and your art is quite good. I did notice, however, that you seem to have a fondness for making your characters gaze upwards or so, which sort of makes it feel a blank stare. Couple that with the occasional smile that seems vaguely Stepford Wives-ish, and it does kinda cross over into the Uncanny Valley for some.

Anyway, I guess you could try having them occasionally look towards the viewer, maybe? That could reduce the “blank stare” feel a bit.

Artist here, no account, but can someone tell me why my stuff keeps getting described as creepy?

Most of my stuff is intended to be but I can’t tell what’s crossing over into the things like this that aren’t intended to be as such.

Thanks in advance!
