Description

Hariman said:
A safe night sounds good, and we can work something out with the harpies. There’s probably also opportunities for trade there too.
Plus, this isn’t our first contact with the harpies, and maybe we’ll meet the crew that helped us get to Midgard too. Also, news of what happened in Midgard is probably important too.

You roll a 6 (required 10). Partial success.

Your party decides to try spending the night at the harpy village. Under normal circumstances, it would have been your pleasure to offer yourself as payment to the taloned beauties, but in your current condition, it seems wiser not to.

With that in mind, you anchor the sailboat close to shore, and make your way inland toward the settlement. As you arrive, you are greeted by the curious glances of its colourful residents.

One of them, a blue and black-feathered harpy, steps forward to take a closer look at each one of you, before turning to address Smoke.

Harpy: “Very cute! How about three firestones for the brown one?”

Smoke: “… What?”

Harpy: “Oh! My mistake. Are these not for sale?”

In an attempt to dismiss any further misunderstandings, you introduce yourselves as travellers seeking shelter, and tell the harpy that you have information to offer in exchange for an overnight stay.

Harpy: “Ah, welcome! You can call me Galazios. And while we have plenty of warm beds available, I’m afraid we don’t much care for tales from beyond the sea. For all we know, that kind of wind could blow one way or the other.”

Apple Basket: “Uh, how about a tradin’ opportunity? My uncle works for a company in Equestria what deals in exotic goods, and I reckon y’all might be interested in becomin’ partners.”

Galazios: “Exotic goods, hmm? That’s one way to phrase it, I suppose. Very well, you have my ears…”

After some deliberation, Galazios agrees to a deal not unlike Captain Floga did. Then, seemingly satisfied with the terms, she leads you to a nearby hut, and gestures to it.

Galazios: “As we agreed, you can stay here for the night.”

Despite its rough exterior, the inside of the hut appears cozy and lavishly decorated with fragrant flowers and vibrant tapestries, though it houses little more than a large, circular bed with a dozen pillows and inviting silk sheets.

Galazios: “And since you are now our guests, will you be partaking in the sundown feast?”

Some distance away, you notice harpies gathered around bonfires. A mere whiff of grilling fish on the breeze forces you to politely decline.

Galazios: “More for us! I’ll bring you a fresh water jug before the freeze. If you need anything else, I’ll be around. Enjoy your stay!”

You thank Galazios for the hospitality, and head back to your boat to prepare some dinner of your own.

Before long, the moon takes the sun’s place in the sky, and the last remnants of sunlight fade behind bright stars. You retreat into the hut to escape the desert’s icy nightfall, feeling more than ready to settle into bed.

You nestle closely together with your friends under the warm sheets, and listen to their cheerful chatter while resting your eyes. Before you know it, you drift off to sleep, seductive birdmares on your mind…
