Well darn the comment is old, but I still had a comparison of jpg vs png laying around: click!
 
Theres a huge difference with dark scenes, but on many other occasions you don’t see a difference. Just felt like pointing it out for people that happen to pass by.

@The Smiling Pony I’d expect to see a PNG -> JPEG conversion reduce the size that much, but not a JPEG -> JPEG re-encoding.
 
Unfortunately, some artists actually do use JPEG for their digital drawings. The noise is quite obvious.

Well lemme put it this way. I ain’t for hosting a 8mb jpg that can be compressed to 500kb without any human being capable of seeing a difference. Besides which, artists use png; pretty much the only times we see jpgs are from re-reuploads taken from random sites, actual photos or shitty MSPaint memes and trollpics.
