I don’t think it is really about the fun part, but more about that they actually at some point put aside their difference and choice to work together despite a possible risk (like Chrysalis was willing to let her magic be drain from her body). I honestly think it was a decent build-up for possible redemption.

It may seem there’s a lot of people here, but behind the scenes a lot of these BPs are just a handful of people.
 
And some of them are doing this on more than just this image - sometimes playing both sides against the other.
 
So please, if you’ve been jumping back and forth between yourself and anon posting, stop. We are going to start banning people who are doing this on these kinds of images.
 
And if you’re upset by something a background pony has been saying, consider it might be the person who you just agreed with trying to create some sweet, sweet drama because for some reason THIS is the hill they have chosen to die on.
 
Now that I’ve said this, on this and other images where people are fighting about Discord or Cozy Glow, please choose one way of posting in that particular thread, and stick to it. If you’ve been doing both here, we’ve send out all the warnings and bans we are going to for this image for stuff that has already happened - but from this point forward please pick one and only one way of presenting yourself on each thread.

Sure thing. I disliked the finale, but it is a TV show at the end of the day, one intended for young children at that. Besides, the moral of the show was that different people with different personalities and opinions can still be friends, and learn from each other despite their differences. A number of fans seem to have missed this, I’m sorry to say😔.
 
And we have comics and a new tv show set in the same universe. And the Trio are popular villains, so I imagine we’ll see them again in some form.

I agree that the Mean 3 should have been given one more chance after emerging from the cupcake. Even Chrysalis looked like she might have been ready to give up.

Certainly, they weren’t kind, decent people who were just misunderstood, but the potential was there. Grogar had been set up as the final villain, so the writing felt as if they were leaning in that direction. But the twist left a lot of viewers confused, since we suddenly had no idea how we were supposed to view the villains. Sure, plenty rolled with it, but many others did not. And the pony’s made little to know effort to reach out to them, even after they were defeated. When they came out from under the cupcake, it should have been Twilight who confronted them. She should have at least made one last attempt to reach out. Either way, it seems odd to me that Celestia and Luna did not ask Twilight, the pony they were about to put in charge of Equestria, what she thought. The fact that they made no real attempt, despite offering it to other villains who had been just as bad if not worse, rubs as hypocritical.
 
The whole thing was morally shady, in a series that is supposed to teach morality, so people reacting badly to a broken Aesop is well within their rights. It’s absurd to say their opinion is wrong.
 
Also, saying the finale wasn’t controversial because people on YouTube reaction videos liked it isn’t proof of anything. I find many of their reactions overblown anyway. Besides, a lot of the issues with the episode tend to become much clearer when you’ve had time to actually process the events, sometime reaction YouTubers aren’t exactly known for.

Also its more extremely controversial than completely being derisive because on big group reactions on youtube for the s9 finale there are some people either cheering or smiling when the trio get turned to stone. So its not universal hatred for there fate but the ones who do completely hate it are VERY loud about it and derpiboouru itself seems to be a influx of the villain fandom.

There likeable as villains but i can see this they had a villain song that was fun etc but even in the episode where it seemed like they had a possibly to reform they stated wishes to “crush there enemies to dust laugh as they all scream” “force ponies to bow to them” even doing seeming bonding moments.
 
I honestly feel its a bit exaggerated how much potential for good people from that episode the fandom sees and im not saying discord Is a saint before someone tries to demoralize him to try to prove a point.
 
But yeh people mistook them for team rocket because at the time they weren’t directly attacking EQ while the finale meant to remind people no matter how “fun” they are they still are true real villains in the truest sense of the word.

I know I was expecting the villains to reform after “Frenemies” and was disappointed in the end result. It also soured my view of “The Last Problem” and the final song as well, unfortunately, even though the fate of the Mean 3 was supposedly left ambiguous.

I think the reason this hacked off so many people was because the writers did too good of making them likable in prior episodes, and then tried way too hard in the finale to make them hate sinks. The result was a confused audience, many of whom were expecting a different story altogether. Add in the twist, and it becomes easy to see why this finale is so devisive. Discord enabled all of this, and we’re supposed to cheer when he comes up with a horrifying punishment for the creatures he himself manipulated. One of these included a child. I know some people insist she’s either a child or some kind of evil creature that wasn’t a pony, but the series does not say this, and some of her mannerisms lean more towards her being an actual filly. It’s a pity too; I actually thought Season 9 was mostly a step-up from Season 8.
 
By the by, I know the finale was upsetting for a lot of people, but please don’t send death threats to these content creators, ever. Harassment of any sort is unacceptable, period. It also makes other critics look bad, because we get roped in with the idiots, making our opinions seem less valid.
 
I really want to see Chrysalis come back the most.

It makes me wonder about his “together forever” remark, unless he was just saying that to be snarky.

Exactly, as happened to Discord in season 3, Celestia at last decided to free him to give a chance to redeem himself with Fluttershy’s help.  
This was probably the plan that Discord suggests to Celestia and Luna, I think that many have just misunderstood their intentions.

I could go along with that. Imprison them for a short period of time so they get a clear message that this is what’s going to happen if they continue to threaten Equestria.

I think Discord’s good guy moments were far more frequent once he helped save Equestria. Almost losing Fluttershy had a dramatic effect on him. His only mistake in the last episode was not taking the three villains seriously enough. I don’t think it’s his fault the mane 6 & co. have caused him to overestimate their ability to handle problems. He sincerely wanted to help & his good intentions went awry.

God. The comments here are so cringe. Get a grip people. It’s just a TV show.
