Actually, Imalou says that she saw a complaint from someone thought that the G5 ponies had small butts they couldn’t f– to, not that the ponies really do have small butts.
 
Honestly, of the very few official screencaps, we have not gotten one with a perspective that gives a good view. Their faces may look different from G4, but I really don’t see any difference in physique, other than thicker legs.

I didn’t care about a horse’s private part.

Are people going to care? I know there’s the whole ‘watch it for the plot’ joke, but if u watch a show of ponies and u just do it to stare specifically at the rears, then you are a very VERY interesting type of individual.
 
BESIDES, the artists will just turn up the ASS scale in their art.

This is an EqD post, not an official Hasbro announcement, so don’t take this too seriously.  
Besides, why would people care what the rear of a character looks like, anyway? I am more concerned about what the personalities of the characters will be like.

I find it somewhat peculiar that they would nerf the ponies’ butts in G5 considering that they are adding fetlocks which is an obvious attempt at making the designs more “horselike”. Seems like the design philosophy is at odds with itself.
 
Personally, I’ve never been particularly fond of fanart that overemphasizes the size of characters’ butts (this goes for all forms of fanart, not merely those of which are pony-related). In fact, one of my biggest pet peeves is when anime hentai artists stick huge asses on characters that have canonically small butts since it creates a disconnect from the authenticity of the portrayal of said character. It might as well just be the artist’s own personal OC masquerading as the actual character at that point.
 
That being said, I’ve always enjoyed the overall aesthetic qualities of the G4 ponies’ canon butt shapes/sizes, so it’s a bit concerning to hear that they are actively trying to reduce the appeal of the G5 ponies’ butts.
