To be honest, I found all that quite hard to believe. I wouldn’t say that G4 had more fantasy aspects compared to G1 because they just had more “swords and sorcery elements.” A cartoon that’s about talking animals is equivalent to a cartoon that’s about talking humans. Humans are a part of the Animalia kingdom and the Mammalia class after all, as well, just like ponies are. Once again, there were other mammal species - such as woodland animals, like rabbits, squirrels, deer, raccoons, and so on - seen in various episodes and movies. Ponies - that are a smaller type of horse - are from the same world as us, and there are human-like fantasy creatures, such as centaurs, mermaids, elves, gnomes, dwarves, and so on. I know some fans may not like human characters, and I don’t have a problem with what they think, but everyone also knows what the quote is: “If you don’t like it, don’t watch it.” A repeat of G1 depends mostly on writing, not species/characters. I mean, what if ponies acted like other animals? Or what if ponies acted like those human-like fantasy creatures I mentioned before? For me, those who don’t see much of a point in having humans since ponies act like them probably seem to be more associated with appearances, not characteristics.

I’m just going off on why I think the fans aren’t keen on the idea. I mean more so the fantasy aspects specifically from g4, g4 is fantasy but not in the same way as g1 which had more swords and sorcery elements (as silly as that sounds) as let’s be honest g4 is basically a talking animal cartoon not to different from any other “furry” piece of media where humans have basically been replaced by animals and as such I think most fans don’t think humans lend themselves to well into fims world unless you say replace Twilight with a Megan like isekai fish out of water protagonist which ok that could work but I don’t really think such a character is really necessary and it would just be a repeat of G1. I suppose the one niche humans could fill in the world without pissing off too many people is MAYBE having them be very technologically advanced to offset the magical horses as generic as it sounds (it would probably just boil down into another message about environmentalism straight out of the 90s) but other then that I guess most fans don’t see much of a point to having them since ponies act like humans as it is or maybe it’s the lore fanatics that take the shoe way too seriously who hate the idea for some reason, although I wouldn’t be completely opposed to having someone like Megan appear. This mainly applies to g4 but why people hate them in g1 I have no idea frankly
Spike is the mandatory boy deuteragonist character in a girls cartoon similar to how every boys cartoon needs a girl character so little tommy doesn’t feel to weird watching the show with his sister, sure people see him and basically every other male character (flash sentry) as such but I don’t think that was their intention

If you’re claiming that humans just “feel out of place” due to fantasy aspects, then what about the other mammal species - such as woodland animals, like rabbits, squirrels, deer, raccoons, and so on - seen in various episodes and movies? For instance, you’ve seen Fluttershy hang around them frequently. Also, did you know that even ponies - a smaller type of horse - are from the same world as us? In addition, there are human-like fantasy creatures, such as centaurs, mermaids, elves, gnomes, dwarves, and so on, as well.
To prove my point even further, this picture features a human princess and a unicorn that resembles Megan and Sundance - surrounded by woodland animals - in this Heavenly scenery, which My Little Pony’s based upon.
By the way, I don’t intend to be rude - as I said - but I found Spike much of a self-insertion himself, you know.

Most G4 fans just prefer the pure fantasy aspects of the series and as such humans feel really out of place however since G1 was less about the adventure and world building unlike G4 no one cared about how the logistics of the technology or the setting or any of that really. This is why EG exists because its a one sided loop hole of debatable canonicity………however yeah self inserters are notorious amongst the brony community so some are probably like that

I think fans only dislike human characters, like Megan, in My Little Pony because they’re envious, feeling replaced by her.
I don’t intend to be rude. But think about it. Such fans dreamed of traveling to a world full of colorful, talking horses, but Megan and her siblings were the ones who got to do so and not themselves.

I guess this is the show basically saying “We are not having a human girl coming in to steal attention from our pony centred story” Megan is now a side benched character who doesn’t need to be here.
