Okay, this may take some explanation.
I drew this since I’m still salty about the fact that whenever someone draws any character as a Muslim, there’s downvotes galore. And it’s just with that specific religion! Nobody would care if I drew Fluttershy with a cross necklace, but suddenly get their panties in a twist when they see her wearing a headscarf. I’m honestly disappointed that people are still this judgemental about what people choose to believe. Why do people get so upset when a character (Fluttershy in particular) is drawn or headcanoned to be a Muslim? I genuinely want to know.
Anyway, just felt like ranting and venting through a proud Fluttershy!

Look, I get what you’re trying to say and I agree with that woman’s statement, but Islam itself does not promote sexism. The Qur’an states that women should have the same rights as men, including the rights to own property and to education. It’s the governments of those countries that are sexist and are oppressing women. Saying that the Iranian government is representative of all Muslims is like saying the American government is representative of all Christians. Like I said before, it’s just stereotyping.
I doubt that you’ve done any research about Islam yourself. The idea that Mulism women get beaten by their husbands is an outdated misconception and it happens about as often as it does in any other culture nowadays, no more and no less. Just look up “Islam misconceptions” on google and you’ll see that what you just described is one of the many myths about Islam. You’re just stereotyping that religion and contributing to the problem.
No one said they were.
People are responsible for their actions (including words). They certainly aren’t responsible for actions of other people of the same religion, gender, political views, ethnicity, language, etc.
I’m proud of it. Beliefs are one thing a person can be held responsible for. You shouldn’t criticise someone’s looks, abilities, preferences, or status in life. But you can and should criticise their beliefs. It’s because we do this, and challenge the older generation’s beliefs that we’ve come this far. The reason we’re allowed gay characters in FIM (In most countries) is because we do this. You don’t make the world better by staying silent, and just saying “okay”. And I’d dare say that more than anyone else, Fluttershy would feel the same way.
Fluttershy looks great in a hijab. But there are many good reasons to not like her being a muslim. First thing that comes to mind is because Celestia’s kinda sorta already her god. Although, I guess Muhammad could beat Celestia in a fight, I still don’t think Fluttershy would convert.
I think it’s mostly because her mane kinda looks like a headscarf.
I have nothing against a other religions, I just ask “why?”
