Okay, this is totally random but, does anyone actually know what those suit-type neck things are called? I need to know, ‘cause it’s important for the story I’m writing.

Someone needs to reintroduce Mr. Daly to riaelty. Did he sleep through the last few years? There are a lot of non- hoity-toity people who would like to have the opportunity to make a decent living from the elite event and the jobs (estimated 8000) that it would bring to the construction and service industries. And the city wouldn’t suffer too badly by collecting 9.5% on all the elite staying in SF hotels and eating in SF restaurants and shopping in SF stores.I’d also hazard a guess that the international exposure that SF would get (since sailing events are watched far more over seas than in the US at this point) would be a bit beyond what the city has in its convention and tourism promotion budget.Throw in the fact that if BMWO wins they would probably return to the city and you’d have another 3 years of economic stimulus. And it would be nice if there was a little more reporting on Mr. Daly’s numbers which don’t seem to come close to lining up with the figures presented in the BoS meetings by people who can actually do math.Ellison may not be a prince but I’d wager Mr. Daly’s salary that Mr. Ellison has had a more positive impact on the SF economy over the past 20 years than Daly will ever have.
