Hop off your high horse bud. No one is immune to criticism. I’m not saying his art is bad, I’m saying it used to look better. I have nothing to gain from criticizing his work, I’m merely stating an opinion, not ‘make myself important’, nor tear him down as an individual. Whether he decides to listen to my opinion is for him to decide, not me or you. An artist should take all criticism into consideration, not just those who give him money.

Ignore the unasked-for criticism. It’s just people who aren’t your customers saying “draw what I want, not what you want, in the way that I want, not the way that you want, because what you want is not important but what I want is the most important”. It’s a means of setting themselves above you, of controlling you, of saying that you belong to them and had better do as you are told. And they’re not even paying you for the privilege. You don’t need them; they are simply trying to make themselves important by publicly soapboxing about someone whose work is popular. As the saying goes, “Those who can, do… those who can’t, teach… those who can’t even teach… criticize.”

You are not their property.
Draw what you want.
Draw in the way that you want.
Everybody else can GTFO.

The complaint is that his older work was cuter because it didn’t have as much in the way of hard lines or bulging neck muscles or weirdly prominent inner eyelid features.

It also overemphasizes the Sternocleidomastoid muscles in the neck, and I’m not sure how well the detailed placement of the Plica Semilunaris of Conjunctiva is working for the work.

Do you mind a little blunt honesty?

Your work is losing its charm with the growing use of hard angles and lines. I like your older, softer style much better.
