I’m having a hard time following you, did I say I was better than him? No, that is certainly not the message I was trying to convey. I’m very much not an activist, I was just providing a rebuttal to his statement, which on top of trailing off into a tangent completely separate from a thread already misunderstanding my original comment, was just plain arrogant and self-congradulating about something that really shouldn’t warrant such complacency. And what does it matter where and how the discussion takes place? I am proud of my religion, I have accepted it as a part of my identity as inate as any personality trait or physical feature, and I will not stand for any kind of disparagement aimed at it or me. Have I satisfied you? I ask for your benefit, you are no judge to me.

Yeah, you must be so proud of yourself. To answer your question; no, people shouldn’t stop “being” homosexual just because of religious AND secular pressure, I certainly never felt that repressing my attra tion to other men was the right way of going about it. Yet in over four years as a practicing Roman Catholic convert, I having never tried to hide that aspect of myself from anyone at my church, and I have yet to experience any hostile homophobic actions from them. Giving up on, excuse me, the word you used was “escaping”, religion does not make you some great social justice crusader with a better idea of what will fix the world’s problems, it just means that you are spiritually weak.

Yeah, I think you all horribly misunderstood the meaning of my words, so I will explain them in terms you hopefully will understand: Embarassment is what you feel when you do something unconventional that makes you look and feel stupid, guilt that sensation in your gut you get when you do something and afterwards think to yourself “Oh dear God if anyone knew about this they would tear me a new asshole and be completely justified for it.”

I disagree, should people stop being gay? When I was about 17 I stopped attending church and that made me feel guilty, but now I’m just embarrased that I hadn’t escaped it sooner.

@CreakyCreek: That’s awful advice. If you do something that makes you feel guilty you should do it more and more until you’re unable to feel guilt or tell right from wrong anymore.

… I suspect that more people feel that way about watching FiM than they do about watching porn.

Protip for life: If you feel horribly guilty about what you’re doing and have the need to hide it from everyone, that’s a good indication that that thing is something you really shouldn’t be doing.
