Pretty much. I feel you don’t need to care about things all the time. Like, I care about things like the state of the world, I watch the news, I vote, I track what’s going on in the government, but I don’t care HERE. I come here for ponies :P

I guess the “information superhighway” analogy works really well here, sometimes you get passed by a car full of clowns, sometimes it’s a leaking sewage truck, you just need to learn how to work around what’s bothering you and get to your destination.

The 27 car pile up can be whichever site you believe fits the analogy the best.

You have to have an irreverent attitude online, I think. The internet is a great thing, but it’s also a conveyor belt of sewage that just dumps non-stop drama and bad news on you if you let it XD

I just don’t take a lot of that stuff personally, to be honest. Like, I can’t remember which one it is, but one of the Derpibooru alternatives that cropped up took it really personally that I opted to stay here. I remember someone PM’d me about it, and I was just confused why anyone would care at all one way or the other what I did, let alone take it personally :/

Honestly, it’s a “why bother” kind of thing for me. Drama and bad things are going to happen on any website :P

Yeah, I’ve considered it too, but honestly, at this point I’ve been jumping from website to website leaving a breadcrumb trail of ponies and titties (sometimes even pony titties) for so long, it doesn’t feel right to have only one place to post stuff in, y’know?

Yeah. They used to be a really fun site. Nowadays you only go there if you want to feel really bad and read the “genius” political views of a bunch of misanthropes. Ironically, they’ve tried to fix it somewhat I think, where they at least have the option to “see less politics”, but since tagging isn’t enforced there at all it does very little. All they have to do is enforce tagging politics as politics since they have a filter system already, but like you said as long as the site is profitable why bother? :P

I’ve actually considered making my own site. Things were real bad here a few years ago and I was considering washing my hands of it, but since the site rebounded I figured it wasn’t necessary :D

Sadly common when small websites end up growing that big; community driven leads to investor driven, leads to purging anything that could upset their income.
It’s kinda lucky we live in the digital age where someone can go “I’ll make my own image hosting site, with blackjack and ponies!” and actually succeed.

Yeah, sad to say. Imgur used to be a really good site. Then they got lost in the sauce, cracked down on the image hosting side of things, and got all dirty with politics and shadowbans and the like :/

Honestly, at this point building your own image hosting site from scratch is probably a better option than using Imgur.

I’d recommend using Catbox, I never had any problems with them deleting my stuff.

Yep, that’s the one. It’s no problem for me to restore them, like they’re still on Imgur and since I can edit the descriptions I can get the original unmolested Imgur link, https://i.imgur.com/Uem6trf.jpeg in that case, and reupload it to an image host that doesn’t suck. I can even search through my images by source to find every single one. The problem is, is it would take a while to do, and I either can’t be bothered or forget to do it XD

Yeah. It happened with any images hosted on Imgur. They blacklisted Derpi from hotlinking to them, from what I understand. I keep meaning to sit down and update them, but I’m just too lazy :P
